Under 9 - Thirsk vs Ripon

Thirsk (15, 20, 15)  vs  Ripon (45, 35, 10)

Date : 14/12/2008

Thirsk played 3 games against 3 different under 9 Ripon sides losing the 1st two games, 15-45 and 20-35 and winning the 3rd 15-10.Thirsk looked a shadow of the team that brushed aside guisborough 2 weeks ago.As a team they seemed to forget all the basics and couldn't keep possession long enough to build an attack as they failed to protect the ball at the breakdown and Ripon turned over Thirsk ball,Thirsks tackling was very weak and several of the Ripon tries could have been stopped with more committed tackling as the 1st two games drifted away frustration set in causing Thirsk to start arguing and fall out between themselves which only added to a poor display which made a strong Ripon look better than they were.Thirsk rallied in the final game after a no holes barred team talk and saved a 3 -0 white wash. two or three players never gave up and fought hard to keep the score down,Jordan Mckee marked his return with a great individual performance in defence and attack winning him "The player of the match" Max Critchlow also playing well on his return,Sam Charlton putting in another solid game in the tight, also showing he can score tries. Lots to work on next week. Lets get back on track and focus playing rugby well and working as a "Team" to put things right, not look to blame each for things going wrong
